Zimbabwean newspapers and their online complements

Press Release
In a digitised world such as ours, many print publications now have complementary websites. This is particularly true in Zimbabwe, where newspapers can also be found online. These sites include breaking news, feature content that matches the newspaper, as well as additional articles covering a variety of topics.

Newsclip Media Monitoring currently monitors 14 publications and 22 websites (half of which are newspaper complements) from Zimbabwe. By having a website, newspapers can offer readers the benefit of accessing information online from the comfort of their own home, while simultaneously giving newspapers the opportunity to broaden their reach.

Below is an overview of some of the Zimbabwean newspapers that have complementary websites, both of which are monitored by Newsclip:

The Chronicle: This daily newspaper is distributed in Bulawayo and covers local and international news, with additional sections for business, entertainment and sport. Its online counterpart features more updated local news, as well as extensive entertainment and business coverage. The website also allows readers the opportunity to comment.

The Herald: Published from Monday to Friday, The Herald is one of the oldest newspapers in Zimbabwe, and is distributed in Harare. The printed newspaper and the website have complementary content, with a strong focus on national news, entertainment, sport and business.

Maninca Post: This weekly community newspaper focuses on community affairs, lifestyle, business and sport. The website boasts additional sections that focus on crime & courts, environment & tourism, health, and agriculture.

News Day: A daily newspaper that covers news, business, sport, and life & style, News Day has additional sections which are dedicated to covering football, arts & culture, and music. The website also has a variety of multimedia that includes videos and images.

Zimbabwe Independent: As an independent weekly newspaper, the Zimbabwe Independent aims to create conversation with and among Zimbabweans about the issues that matter in the country through their business and politics related content. The online counterpart supports these ideals by creating conversations through their comments sections.
