20 July 2016 – Ghana, like many African countries, has a rich and unique entertainment industry. From comedy to music and fashion, movies to soapies, the Ghanaian entertainment landscape is vast. Through websites and blogs, millions of people have access to the latest entertainment news from across the country.

Newsclip Media Monitoring currently monitors 46 websites in Ghana, with 12 of them dedicated to entertainment coverage. These websites highlight the distinctive Ghanaian entertainment landscape, showcasing what the country enjoys.

In 1994, Ghana was one of the first African countries to receive Internet access, and according to www.internetwordstats.com, in June 2016, almost 8 million Ghanaians (29.6% of the population) had access to the Internet.

Through these websites, locals are exposed to a wide variety of information, not only from Ghana but from across the continent. This exposure opens the doors to a world of information, and uncovers an array of brands, people, music, entertainment, and ideas.

Below is an overview of a handful of Ghanaian websites monitored by Newsclip:

Fashionghana.com: An award-winning blog and online boutique dedicated to African fashion. FashionGHANA.com is dedicated to pushing African trends, lifestyle, fashion news and talent to the forefront of pop culture.

Ghanamusic.com: A multimedia content service provider and the largest electronic source of information on the Ghanaian music scene. Ghana Music.com is a website that serves as an international musical archive to Ghana, Africa and the world as a whole.

Ghbase.com: An entertainment website that provides entertainment across Ghana and Africa. It focuses on the latest in entertainment news, movie updates, fashion and lifestyle tips, feature articles, opinions, miniseries, latest music videos and other sections of entertainment.

Spectator.com.gh: The Spectator is a news, entertainment, educative and fashion website. Providing its readers with the latest breaking news and videos straight from the entertainment industry.

Trendybloggh.com: A Ghanaian blog that focuses on trends in Ghana. They cover themes such as technology news and trends, and fashion news and trends. The blog also looks at celebrity news and events, as well as featuring general entertainment stories.

Yaasomuah.com: This website gives visitors all the latest news on fashion, African music, lifestyle and inspiring stories happening within Ghana.
