With today’s proliferation of media and written content, busy executives simply do not have the time to browse through the country’s daily newspapers, with over 50 at present. To accommodate these needs, Newsclip has been publishing industry-relevant reviews since 1999, to meet this need for summarised information across multiple media services. The News Reviews act as a synopsis of industry-specific media coverage, and function as an early warning system for media developments.

Originally starting with SA Today – the flagship review which covers all major stories making headlines, as well as weather and exchange rates - the reviews have grown from strength to strength.

News Reviews are useful in many situations, such as when you are away from the office; busy in meetings; or outside the country on business. The Reviews are all emailed to a set subscriber base before 08:00 each week day.

Newsclip Publishing currently has a stable of 13 reviews, consisting of 10 dailies and 3 weeklies. Newsclip also produces specific corporate reviews on request.

Daily Reviews:

1. SA Today: A daily review containing a summary of the top stories reported in South Africa, including the top business and sports reports.

2. Uhulumeni - Government: This review provides an overview of the media coverage received by various government departments in the local press.

3. Africa in Perspective: A new daily review that wraps up business-related stories across the African continent, from Morocco in the north to Mozambique in the south.

4. Big Business: The most important news about South Africa’s largest companies is the focus of this review.

5. Banking, Finance & Insurance: This combined review includes all news relating to retail banking; products and services; staff appointments and strikes; as well as general economic news     relating to finance; mergers and acquisitions; property finance; and insurance.

6. Minerals & Energy: This review focuses solely on these two sectors, including reports on relevant companies in South Africa, and international news that affects the entire global industry.

7. Sports Blast: Rugby, cricket, soccer, boxing, tennis, golf, athletics and much more can be found in this “back page feel” review of South African sport.

8. Motoring: This serves as a snapshot for all motoring-related news including cars, trucks, buses and bikes.

9. Aviation: This review covers all news items relating to commercial and military aviation, and the industry in general.

10. Soccer’s Big Event: A daily overview of South Africa’s preparations for the Confederations Cup in 2009, and the FIFA World Cup in 2010. It focuses on general news; stadium progress;      infrastructure; Bafana Bafana news; football news; tourism and hospitality; security issues; and more.

Weekly Reviews:

11. Health in the Workplace: A weekly overview of health news affecting business in South Africa.

12. BEE: A weekly snapshot of BEE development in the South African business sector.

13. Tertiary Education: A weekly review highlighting news and developments affecting advanced education in     South Africa.

Newsclip has created a series of corporate reviews which are tailored to specific clients’ needs. They are fully customisable and can be moulded to meet the client’s desired output. The client can thus specify what kind of news they want, grouped into specific categories.

Newsclip sifts through all the news publications and provide the client with only the news that is relevant to them. We also conduct news searches for specific companies, relating to topics selected by the client for their review, which is then incorporated into the corporate review under a heading of their choice.

Via Mobile is the name given to Newsclip’s publishing division that produces 13 daily and weekly News Reviews, as well as the resulting mobile delivery service known as ViaMobile. This service pushes information to people’s mobile devices, such as cell phones and laptops, and is customised to individual tastes and interests. Information is consolidated from a variety of sources, and distributed to an extensive database of executive managers.

The ViaMobile newsroom journalists source content from a large number of companies, as well as breaking stories from radio and television broadcasts, internet publications and national daily print media. ViaMobile’s arsenal of 15 niche publications includes: SA Today; Africa in Perspective; Uhulumeni; Political Insight; Banking Finance and Insurance; Big Business; Minerals and Energy; Motoring; Aviation; Sports Blast; Soccer’s Big Event; Tertiary Education; BEE; Health in the Workplace; Technology, Media & Telecommunications.

If you would like to submit content to this service, please add Via Mobile to your press release distribution list, so that the Via Mobile newsroom journalists also receive the corporate information you would usually send out to the media. The email address to use is reviews@newsclip.co.za.

Via Mobile’s key features include:

-News before it becomes news: ViaMobile allows web-based access to each News Review while it is being compiled, so tomorrow’s news stories are available today, even before publication elsewhere.

-Personal archive: Each ViaMobile subscriber has a database of all keyword SMSes that have been allocated to them. This information is available through the web interface, and becomes particularly useful for reference purposes, and for leisure time, when subscribers turn their cell phones off. This means you never miss a thing, as you can always look back at previous news.
